Hi Amazing tutorial, I had exactly the same problem with oil cooler seals, and also the same wear in the inlet manifold swirl flap arm. It was all fixed by a very competent local mechanic but I took it to Austria last year and the Turbo would cut out and would always reset when ignition switched off/on. I still haven't got to the bottom of this problem and wondered if you have any ideas! I was thinking maybe an Actuator or Map sensor but It's really just a guess. I have had the codes cleared and the only code I have now is 2783, which is friction of torque converter lockup clutch is too high. When I got home from Austria the following codes were stored. 2783 friction power of torque converter lock up clutch is too high. 0741 actuation of torque converter lockup clutch is not possible 129700 Dpf filter is defective (although soot/Ash lever zero) 14Ac00 Component B19/11 temp sensor upstream of turbocharger has internal fault 15FD00 Lower limit value of component B28/8 Dpf differential pressure sensor has not been reached. Many thanks in advance, any info would be greatly appreciated.

Great video! Interesting to see the delayed maintenance on some of these beautiful vehicles...they are so expensive when new, then depreciate like hell... so there we go. You are doing a great job here, innovative thinking, not every fix needs to be super expensive when being a bit creative.

That air mass sensor on the CLS is frankly ridiculous - on Mercedes part that is! Is that the case for all cars with the OM642?

Is there anything I should look out for on my W218 CLS350d 2016? It’s only done 45k with full history and I do all my own service and repairs using genuine Merc parts. Do they suffer any major problems?

All rubber including tyres as well as all fluids including fuel should ideally be replaced after 7 years. Also , should the suspension arm bushes not be tightened up once they bear the weight of the car ?

Yeh Sam, interesting video. We definitely need to see more of Paula, especially if she's doing comedy routines!! I can understand the temptation to decline work. I took my CLK to my specialist for an A service and a gearbox mount, and they recommended replacing the front and rear tailshaft couplings, at $1,050 (Aussie). I went ahead and had a total bill of $1,850 which kind of stings when I only paid $10,000 for the car. It is generally an inexpensive car to run, but Mercedes certainly do know how to charge for some parts.

My 2003 CLK 55 has a Valeo radiator and to be honest, it scared me a bit as they were known to have a factory defect and leak. However, it seems that the previous owner replaced the radiator because the date on it is 05/03/05, so I hope I won't have an unpleasant surprise.

The W203 is such a sweet spot in the Mercedes line up. If you can get one with service history and rust free they'll serve you better than the newer models.

Is there a particular reason other than cost that from the factory they don't use stainless steel for brake pipes? Genuine question. My mechanical knowledge is limited on cars I'm more of motorcycle tech.

Just shows you how important regular maintenance is and how complicated these MB cars are. SPR seems extremely reputable, reliable and believe in good customer relations.

Great video, interesting to see a variety of jobs that come in to the garage. One thing that really surprised me was how long the ‘overdue service’ was - unless the car’s been off the road for a long time, maybe. Good to see that you try to save customers money where you can!

Great video once again. Any thoughts on why my B19/11 & B19/9 egt sensors would both be reading around -220°c combined with a P2048, one was slightly different from the other. OM642 Engine in a w221. I removed the easy to get at one on the manifold and the resistance did indeed increase when heated from 200 ohms upwards, so appears to function, changes to -147°c when unplugged. Not sure which way to go with it.
